The Family Altar Program
On May 8, 1944, a fifteen-minute broadcast was aired on a little 250-watt radio station in Corpus Christi, Texas, launching the Family Altar Program. This pioneering effort of Evangelist Lester Roloff was a huge step of faith, coupled with a fervent burden for souls. He described those pioneering years in radio as “trials, tears, temptations, and testing.” Over seventy years later, the Family Altar Program continues to touch countless lives with the gospel message on stations all across America.
In founding this radio ministry, Brother Roloff said, “The message will always be the same – a message of Calvary, the virgin birth, the sinless life, the wonderful atonement, the bodily resurrection, and the glorious return of our Savior. I’ll keep back nothing, but declare the whole counsel of God.”
Ministries like this often encounter opportunities to compromise the message in order to achieve a larger audience. The Family Altar Program is committed to continue the vision of the founder with the firm belief that God will use the preaching of his Word to change lives for now and eternity. We are confident that God has blessed this ministry and will continue to use this broadcast as we maintain a heart for people in trouble and meet their need through the unwavering preaching of God’s Word. Christ is still the Answer!
As a ministry team, we have dedicated our own hearts and our daily efforts to bring glory to Jesus Christ. We look forward to what God will choose to do in the years ahead. This ministry has always been an endeavor of faith and is sustained today by the prayers and support of God’s people. Please pray for this ministry, and if God directs, please support this ministry that we may continue to send this broadcast to regions yet unreached.
